Fantech HERO 200H
Heat recovery ventilator (HRV). Moves heat between the outgoing and incoming air, so winter fresh air arrives warmer. Moisture goes out with the stale air.
- ENERGY STAR (Canada)
About $1,640Equipment only, at SupplyHouse, October 2026. Installed cost is more.

At a glance
- In its favour: HVI-certified (HVI 2505147)Its airflow and efficiency were tested to the Home Ventilating Institute’s standard.
- Plain fact: 203 cfm at 0.4 in., 195 cfm at 0.5 in. of duct pressureCertified fresh air delivered, at HVI’s headline rating point and at the higher pressure many real ducts run at.
- Not stated by the maker: Fantech lists its CO2RT-R as an accessory for the HERO 200H, with no wiring shownIts set-point range isn’t published, so we can’t confirm it reaches 750, and Fantech’s manuals don’t show it wired to a HERO. The D+ and D− input holds maximum speed while closed. Ask Fantech for a wiring diagram first.
- In its favour: Humidity control documented
- Plain fact: How it handles frost in very cold weatherInternal recirculation defrost ('WinterGuard'). It starts when the outdoor temperature falls below 23 °F (−5 °C) and does not depressurize the home.

Would it cover your home?
Tell it who sleeps in each bedroom. It’s checked against the 800 ppm goal the same way the app checks a unit an installer quotes.
Certified airflow
How much fresh air it delivers as the ducts push back. More duct pressure, less air: that’s why the installer’s duct design matters as much as the unit.

Heat recovery
Sensible recovery (SRE) is the share of heat kept in winter, after the fan’s own heat is taken out. Higher is warmer incoming air for the same airflow.
| Outdoors | Airflow | SRE | Fan power | cfm per watt |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 32°F (0°C) | 85 cfm | 80% SRE | 98 W | 0.8 |
| 32°F (0°C) | 140 cfm | 77% SRE | 136 W | 1 |
| 32°F (0°C) | 195 cfm | 74% SRE | 192 W | 1 |
| -13°F (-25°C) | 87 cfm | 67% SRE | 133 W | 0.6 |
- Plain fact: Keeps 74–80% of the heat at 32°FAcross the airflows HVI tested.
- In its favour: Tested at −13°F too: 67% SREHVI’s very-cold test point, useful in cold climates.
Turning up on CO2
A CO2 control can switch it to a higher speed when the bedroom needs air, then back. HouseExhale’s setting: up at 750 ppm, back at 650, never above 800.
Documented control setups for this unit
Fantech CO2RT-R · 99315Installer confirmation needed
Switches to high speed. The sensor can close its relay above an adjustable CO2 setpoint, but the exact response and terminals for the current HERO 200H were not verified in the reviewed model sheet.
Set it to 750 ppm, if it can be set that low: its maker doesn’t publish its range.
What Fantech documents
- Not stated by the maker: No CO2 control documented for its home unitsIts CO2RT-R (99315) is sold with its commercial units, and its switch-point range isn’t published.
- In its favour: HERO: a dry-contact input holds maximum speed while closedTerminals D+ and D− (meant for a dehumidistat). A CO2 relay there should work electrically; Fantech doesn’t document it, and defrost comes first.
- Worth knowing: Never connect 120 V to its control terminalsFantech’s manual says so; a CO2 relay needs its own 24-volt supply.
- Plain fact: Flex: its boost timers run 20 to 60 minutesA timer input runs its time and stops, rather than staying high.

Certified airflow and efficiency from the HVI directory (exported September 23, 2026), joined to this exact model by its HVI number. The maker’s facts from our review of August 31, 2026 and our research of October 17, 2026. This is product information, not a design: your installer confirms the ducts, room-by-room airflow and controls, then measures the airflow after install.
