Use HouseExhale with your AI assistant

Ask Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant about your bedroom’s air, and it answers with HouseExhale’s checked numbers instead of guessing.

Free, and no account needed.

Assistants that support MCP connectors let you add one by its address: look for Connectors or Apps in its settings, add a custom one, and paste the address above. Then ask as you normally would; it uses HouseExhale when your question calls for it.

Set it up yourself

Connect directly with these settings.

Name
HouseExhale

Connection type
Streamable HTTP (sometimes called HTTP)

None. No account, API key or custom headers needed.
Claude

Open Settings → Connectors, add a custom connector named HouseExhale and paste the server URL above. Choose no authentication if asked. Custom connections depend on your plan and workspace permissions.

In Claude Code, run this in your terminal, then use /mcp to check the connection:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user houseexhale https://houseexhale.com/mcp

For a project configuration instead, merge this entry into .mcp.json, keeping any servers already there:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "houseexhale": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://houseexhale.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

ChatGPT

On the web, open Plugins, choose +, then Add custom MCP server. Some accounts show Apps instead. Enter HouseExhale, paste the server URL, and select No authentication. Review the connection notice and create the connection.

In a new chat, select HouseExhale from your available tools or plugins. Your workspace may need to allow custom connections.

VS Code / GitHub Copilot

Open the Command Palette, run MCP: Add Server, choose HTTP, and enter the server URL. Or merge this into your workspace’s .vscode/mcp.json:

{
  "servers": {
    "houseexhale": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://houseexhale.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Review the server trust prompt, start the server and enable its tools in your chat.

Check the connection or fix a problem

Ask: “My bedroom averaged 1,240 ppm while I slept. What should I try first?” Your assistant should use explain_co2_reading, explain the 800 ppm precautionary goal, and suggest a free change with the bedroom door shut. The goal is not a health limit.

An optional terminal check lists the five public tools:

curl 'https://houseexhale.com/mcp' -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -H 'Accept: application/json, text/event-stream' --data '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list","params":{}}'
  • Opening /mcp in a browser brings you here. Paste that URL into the assistant’s server field.
  • Use Streamable HTTP, rather than a legacy SSE-only connection. Keep the URL ending in /mcp.
  • If asked for a key or sign-in, check the URL and choose no authentication. This public connection cannot read or save your HouseExhale journal.
  • If tools are missing, reconnect or restart your assistant and check your workspace permissions. Assistants without in-chat views can still use the text answers.

What it can answer

The same checks as the app and this site.

Try asking

  • “My bedroom monitor showed 1,240 overnight. Is that bad, and what should I try first?”
  • “Here’s an ERV quote (attached). Is the unit big enough for our three bedrooms?”
  • “Which companies near 80210 install HRVs, and are there rebates in Colorado?”

What it never does

Privacy

What you type to an assistant goes to the company that makes it, under its own privacy terms. HouseExhale’s public tools need no account. We count how often each tool is used, not who asked or what they asked. See our privacy policy and public assistant terms.
